About Me

My photo
Carla Strozzieri
As a painter, I seek to express my love of color, rhythm and design within representational subjects. My goal is to capture the spirit within the form to evoke within the observer a visceral sense of being in the painting through identification with the subjects. My intent is to exalt the mundane and aggrandize the commonplace through color and composition choices and by combining subtle imaginative elements within a representational framework. I execute my paintings in traditional oil media, most often developing each work gradually, using complex layering techniques. My color choices are influenced by historical palettes and lean upon my fascination with luminous transparent glazes on the one hand, and my love of earth pigments on the other. My appreciation for classical painting methods and materials is extended to allow myself the freedom to vary my approach in a contemporary direction. CONTACT ME: carla.artist@gmail.com
